1 Killed In Army Firing In Jammu And Kashmir’s Ramban

One person was killed and another was injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district when the army opened fire after noticing suspicious movement on Saturday, police said.

Locals claim that the victim and the injured mere cattle traders.

The incident took place at a tunnel construction site in Sumbad Kholi area on Saturday evening. According to reports, the victim was seen moving around the site by security personnel. 

According to initial investigation, the victim had gone to the village for work, an official said.

“At 3:45 am, the army patrol saw some suspicious activity. The suspected individuals were challenged by the army as per Standing Operating Procedure. On being challenged, the suspected individuals opened fire upon the army patrol. On this, the Army patrol retaliated the firing by suspects  effectively. Further details are being ascertained,” the army said in a statement.

An FIR or a complaint has been registered.
