Jet Flyer Allegedly Spoke About Blowing Up Plane, Held At Kolkata Airport

Kolkata:

A passenger travelling on a Jet Airways flight was arrested at Kolkata airport today after he was seen sending a photo of a masked man on Snapchat with a comment that reportedly said he would blow up the plane, the police said today.

The Jet Airways flight 9W 472, going to Mumbai, was taxing on the runway for take-off at 8:15 am when a passenger saw the man posting the photo with the words “terrorist, destroy”. The alarmed passenger then discreetly informed one of the cabin crew, following which the plane returned to the parking bay at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

The passenger, Yog Vedan Poddar, a Kolkata resident, was arrested by the Central Industrial Security Force and handed over to the police for questioning.

The police said they are looking at his antecedents to determine if he is a threat. His family has been called to the police station.

The man’s father reportedly said his son was simply “fooling around” with his friends.

The flight has taken off for Mumbai.
